Look Ma, I'm Flying!

We had a really windy day here last week, and the 40mph wind gusts provided the perfect condition for Joey to find out if he could fly.

Joey has many acrobatic qualities.  Fearless, oddly flexible, and he has an innate ability to cause slight heart attacks while performing high risk stunts.  I had to talk him out of "flying" off the tall climber in our yard, and he and I both agreed that a large Rubbermaid storage tote would be a sufficient flying platform.

Over and over again my funny boy climbed up, whipping his cape behind him and waited for a strong wind to catch.  According to him the further he jumped, the better his flight was.

His cousin Jack wore the first cape he could find (happened to be a pink one... he does have his own somewhere around this house!) and played along.  Not even close to being the climbing monkey boy that Joey is, Jack often played the role of wind watcher, and jump encourager.

At one point he looked like he might take the plunge, but instead carefully climbed off and decided it wasn't worth the risk.

All tired out, it was time for a nap on the swing instead.

Love the pics. It's nice to see kids using their imaginations instead of playing video games.

Makes me want to try to fly too!
